Honourable Shirley Bond
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure
Parliament Buildings
Victoria BC V8V 184
Dear Minister:
Thank you so much for your quick response to our community’s request for emergency access to Highway 19 from Nahmint Road in Qualicum. The access looks very well thought out, your staff did a wonderful job in the planning, construction and speed of delivery.
As you suggested, our Corcan Meadowood Residents Association and MLA, Scott Fraser met with the Regional District of Nanaimo and your staff to assess the viability of our plans for highway access. The Regional District of Nanaino wants approval from the planning department of the Ministry of Transportation before reevaluating the three official community plans.
Barbara Thomas has agreed to assess the viability of our plans for highway access and work with the RDN planners to ascertain the impact the idea would make on the local road networks
Area F would contain the new access and we would have to remove the proposed access from area G. Corcan Road, a main feeder road in area H would need to be considered due to traffic concerns. Enclosed is our concept for ramps onto 19 from Nahmint and Corcan. We ask that your planners scrutinize our plan and suggest any changes needed to convert our proposal to reality.
Sincerely yours,
David Jones
Corcan Meadowood Residents Association
