On April 2nd the CMRA working in partnership with the Little Qualicum River Village Strata Council and our Area Director Leanne Salter sent an Urgent request to the Minister of Transport regarding the emergency access gate at Nahmint Rd. Local residents were also invited to write letters in support and over 50 were submitted to the Minister.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure did respond through our Area Director. At this time they are still not willing to re-open this access.
The CMRA board is now considering a new counter proposal and will continue to engage constructively with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. Its imperative that this access be opened given that we no longer have local first responders dispatching to medical calls.
