The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOT) asked the Corcan Meadowood Residents Association (CMRA) to submit engineering details and costs associated with highway access to Highway 19 from Corcan and Nahmint ( see tentative access map in link below) This Engineering study must be completed before the property owners can vote in a referendum. The referendum will ask if property owners in Corcan Meadowood Corridor ( see pdf Maps in link below for voting areas) would approve an Estimated increase of $250.34 per year, for a 8 year period, for each property owned, to pay for access to and from Nanaimo. The cost of the highway access engineering report required for a referendum is $103,785.30. To raise this money, the CMRA is asking each property owner to donate $100.00 to the CMRA.
If there is not enough interest and money to start the engineering studies by September 30, 2013, all funds received by the CMRA will be returned.
